Internals
Table #349 - TT cut down by 0,03 seconds.
52. 24,35 by Kazan
Total time dropped by 2 hundredths last month and 3 hundredths this month. See, there is hope! Perhaps people are busy with studies and other lifey distractions; it's springtime. As we know, there have always been quiet times in the internal scene and it's not realistic to assume internal records won't be improved much further.
Saveload replays
Kazan and anpdad kindly provide basis for my statements. Four new saveloaded replays were shared by anpdad on Mopolauta. Among them, most notably the presumed current WR style for Tunnel Terror. A great new end route for Shelf Life was also shared. It has been worked on for years, but this is the first time it's published for everyone. The other two recs are from Upside Down, and contain some new minor styles. Download the replays and discuss in
this lauta thread.
Internal challenges
Another ancient challenge was tackled by gimp. The challenge was to jump down to the brick polygon in Tag and get back up. The obvious solution would be a lucky bounce, but gimp used a much more clever style. Download and discuss
here. CuLiNo responded with a promising attempt at the simpler bounce style. Downloadable
here.
Gimp showed more of his creativity by completing a Loop-de-Loop challenge with a smooth brutal. Download naturally
in the same thread. Many more replays are also found in that thread, but these are the highlights.
Externals
Kopasite 10th anniversary cup
7 out of 10 events are finished. The battle is tight between Madness and FinMan, both having won 3 events.
The cup site is now relocated and integrated to the stats page on EOL site.
One-on-one battles
Ribot made a script for one-on-one battles in generated flat track levels. It's currently inconvenient and tedious to start a battle, but Kopaka is said to be planning on an API to make this quicker. The potential is there. Site
here and lauta thread
here.
Elma League
In early 2011 ribot launched Elma League with divisions and caught the interest of many players and designers. Unfortunately it was riddled with bugs and ribot decided to kill it due to lack of time. Now Ville_J is planning on launching it again. Discussion about format and other things is found in
this thread. If you have ideas, make yourself heard.
Websites
Elma Online
The site was rebuilt from scratch! Since EOL went public, the site has been very slow and database queries have caused lag in the game itself. Kopaka decided to rebuild the whole site and it was well worth it; performance is now notably better. Many features are still pending and will be added as time goes on. Achievements were added as a completely new feature. Lee has drawn icons for them and some have been implemented. Achievements are shown on the bottom of your player page (
example). Discussion
here.
Just a reminder: you don't need to be a programmer to contribute. EOL server costs $26 each month. You can help by donating
here.
RecSource
Ville_J made a replay viewer in HTML5 for
his site. It had some framerate issues, but is now working well faster than Coco's replay viewer from 2007. Kopaka also adopted this for Elma Online site.
